Henry de Bromhead is hoping Bob Olinger can land a poignant victory in the Christmas Hurdle at Leopardstown over Christmas.

The Grade 1 contest will be run in memory of his son Jack de Bromhead this year and the Sholokhov gelding is the yard's sole entry in the race.

Bob Olinger made a promising return to action when chasing home Home By The Lee in the Grade 2 Lismullen Hurdle at Navan last month.

He also holds an entry in the Grade 1 Matheson Hurdle over two miles the following day but de Bromhead seems to be leaning towards the three-miler.

When asked if the Robcour-owned gelding would line up in the Jack de Bromhead Christmas Hurdle he said:- “Yeah we'd love to, I think it's the right thing.

“He's in the two mile as well and he travelled so easily (last time) so we'll see, he's in both.

“Obviously the dream would be to run in the Jack race and win it but we have to be pragmatic and see exactly what is the right course for him.

“He's a very good horse and he stayed really well so that's why you'd wonder is the two mile option worth investigating as well.”
