Onebrightbluerose (9/4f) scooted away from her rivals on the run-in for Darragh O'Keeffe to post a victory in Division 1 of the Fleadh Cheoil Wexford August Handicap Hurdle over two miles one furlong. Stonecarthy could make no impression in second at 12s, a nose in front of Amron Diamond (11/1 - 7/1).

This doubled the winner's career total as she was previously successful in a handicap hurdle at this track in July last year.

Pat Cronin said: "She's in foal to Mahler and I think she'll be able to run until August. I put everything on her, cheekpieces, blinkers and then I put the stallion on her as well!

"She was placed the first day I ran her after she was covered, she only barely beaten in a chase at Tramore. I'm told covering doesn't improve 80% of mares, but we hadn't much of a choice the way she was running.

"She's in at Tramore on Sunday, but we'll see what way she is. The ground is the key to her and when you see people taking out horses, that's when she wants to run."

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident after the last hurdle involving My Good Pal ridden by Mr B.M. Coonan, placed fifth, and Pleasureofpressure ridden by D. Robinson, placed fourth, where it appeared interference had occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Mr B.M. Coonan stated that he received pressure from his right. D. Robinson stated that when he took his hand off the rein his mount went left and he corrected as soon as he was able. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found D. Robinson, was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having considered his clean record in this regard the Raceday Stewards suspended him for two days.
