O'Sullivan and Gilligan combine to win again Trainer Ross O’Sullivan and Danny Gilligan combined for consecutive daily wins today, with the rider completing a Wexford-double of his own on Giant Haystacks (5/2f) in the Save The Date 7th August Ladies Day Handicap Chase. The pair had combined for a Limerick hurdle success with Global Skies yesterday and today Gilligan began by winning the opening race, on the Gordon Elliott-trained Newbrook Diamond. On Giant Haystacks, a Leopardstown Christmas festival winner in 2024, Gilligan raced prominently and the pair scored by 2.5 lengths from A Snow White Park . Trainer O’Sullivan’s assistant Tom Harney said “I’m delighted for the Keep It Simple Syndicate. He hasn’t won since two Christmases ago so they’ve been patient and it’s great that he could do that. He’s taken well to chasing and we found a little niggle after his run the last day, which we got sorted. “He did a nice little bit of work the other morning so we thought he’d come on from the last day. “We’ll get him home and see how he comes out of the race but there might be something in Galway. They are a good bunch of owners and they’d enjoy a day out in Galway.” Quotes from Gary Carson
