OVERSEAS CHALLENGE AT FAIRYHOUSE ON WEDNESDAY

Berkshire-based Irishman Stan Moore launches a two-pronged assault on the ?30,000 Tattersalls Ireland Race at Fairyhouse on Wednesday afternoon.

The seven-furlong contest has attracted 24 entries including four British challengers headed by bargain-buy Oh So Rosie, who will accompany stable-companion Molly Monash to the Ratoath track.

Costing a mere IR650gns, Oh So Rosie recorded victories at Windsor 6f and Leicester 5f last month and her trainer is hopeful: 'This filly is a tough little thing and I'm expecting her to run a big race,' Moore said on Monday afternoon.

'Her form is rock solid but I'm a little concerned about the fast ground,' warned the Ulster-born former rider whose biggest success in his native country came aboard 50/1 shot Ardross for the late 'Darkie' Prendergast in the 1979 running of the Group 2 Gallinule Stakes at the Curragh.

Moore, who also trained Neblin to win the Tote Gold Trophy, last tasted success in Ireland back in 1999 at Navan when Mydantescooped the EBF Premier NH Fillies Hurdle under Jamie Magee.

Current championship leader Mick Kinane is booked to ride Oh So Rosie while Declan McDonogh is set to ride Molly Monash in the Tattersalls-sponsored Wednesday feature.

Simon Kerins, Marketing Manager at Tattersalls Ireland, is looking forward to this renewed association with Fairyhouse: 'We are delighted to be sponsoring a race again with our neighbours across the road. This race was designed around the third day of last year's September Sale and the whole concept has proved very successful.'

The going at this meeting for the last two years was firm in 2001 and good to firm twelve months earlier and Fairyhouse manager Dick Sheil is expecting much of the same on Wednesday. 'The going is currently good to firm and with very little rain forecast I expect the ground to be quite fast again.'
