Oxx anticipates a busier year John Oxx is hoping for an upturn in fortunes this season after a couple of quiet years. The Currabeg handler saddled just 14 winners in 2017 but received a big mid-season boost as Godolphin sent him five juveniles last July. Oxx has sent out just five runners so far this year, with Tullyallen opening his account at Cork last Saturday in the hands of Niall McCullagh, whom the trainer anticipates using again this term. He said: "Niall McCullagh and a couple of other jockeys ride work for me and we'll use the best available jockey and whatever the owner wants. "Hopefully we'll be a bit busier this year and hopefully we'll do better, as we have more horses this year and have nice new owners and some nice old owners have come back again. "We have some nice, backward two-year-olds and the standard might be going up a bit."
