Paddy Griffin passes away The death has occurred of Oldtown trainer Paddy Griffin. Griffin was most notably associated in recent years with Roi Mage, who struck three times at Listed level in French cross-country events and also competed a couple of times in the Grand National. His son James Griffin is a well-known figure on the Irish racing scene, and had assumed most of the day-to-day training duties in recent years. The following is the death notice published on RIP.ie:- GRIFFIN, Paddy (Oldtown) - August 2nd, 2026 (peacefully) at St. Francis Hospice, Blanchardstown. Sadly missed by his loving wife Frankie, daughter Elizabeth, sons Jonathan, Ronan and James, daughters-in-law Caroline and Rachel, son-in-law David, granddaughter Brooklyn, sisters Doreen, Susan, Mary and Nonie, brothers Brian and Ger, relatives and a large circle of friends. May He Rest In Peace. Reposing at Rock's Funeral Home, Swords on Wednesday (August 5th) evening from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Removal on Thursday (August 6th) morning to St. Brigid's Church, Rolestown arriving for 11 a.m. Mass followed by funeral to The Grallagh Cemetery.
