Grade One-winning novice hurdler Shinrock Paddy returns to action over fences at Killarney on Friday.

Paul Nolan's eight-year-old is among a field of 12 for the Killarney Oaks Hotel Beginners' Chase over two and a half miles.

Although the 2009 Barry And Sandra Kelly Memorial Novice Hurdle winner has yet to open his account over the bigger obstacles, he was a distant second to Bog Warrior in the Drinmore Novice Chase at Fairyhouse in December.

Shinrock Paddy will be having his first race since he was unplaced in a novice handicap chase at Navan in March and Nolan is hoping the current testing conditions will prevail for his reappearance.

"We're hoping the ground stays soft for him. Hopefully he will do himself justice," said the County Wexford trainer.

"He's in good form, he will come on the run but he is in good shape."

Among Shinrock Paddy's rivals are the Dessie Hughes-trained Mackeys Forge, Martin Brassil's Double Seven and Jim Dreaper's Cavite Beta.

On an excellent card, Galway Plate winner Bob Lingo reverts to timber for the McSweeney Arms Hotel Handicap Hurdle.

He faces a strong field including high-class mare Blazing Tempo and Edward Harty's Karabak.
