The Boyle Sports Early Payout Maiden Hurdle in Limerick boiled down to two horses before two out and it was Gordon Elliott's Panjandrum (6/1) who won the jumping test.

He led Belladona Princess over that flight, but the pursuer blundered there and lost a lot of momentum. Panjandrum was able to extend his advantage before the last and galloped home well by nine lengths from the 8/1 runner-up.

The pair were clear of the other two finishers with two horses pulled up in testing conditions.

Winning-jockey Josh Williamson said: "He travelled well today, which he hadn't been doing on his last couple of runs and I'd say the pace of the race helped as they went nice and slow.

"He was able to get his confidence, he jumped well on the whole although he made mistakes at one hurdle down the back and at the second-last.

"He stuck out his race better than he had been doing and I actually dropped my stick after the last, which annoyed me, but it didn't matter."
