Parvenue proves best in nursery The far side prevailed again as they split in the Colm White Nursery at Naas, with Santo Parvenue holding the charge of Docks as the pair raced wide apart late on. Santo Parvenue, trained by Eddie and Patrick Harty, was well supported on his handicap debut in the five furlong contest, going to post 6/1 having been 18/1 this morning. Nathan Crosse was soon prominent on the far rail on the Soldier’s Call gelding and he hit the front over a furlong from home, keeping on gamely to see off Docks by half-a-length. The winner was wearing blinkers for the first time and Harty senior said:- "We had our side won from a furlong out. Chris (Hayes) didn't come and get us. “The blinkers helped focus his mind. The castration whether it helped or not god knows. “I'd say he'll get another furlong and he might go in again before the season is out. It was nice to get it for Dan Kiely. He's one of the bigger owners in the yard and he's put a lot into it. “I wasn't behind the corner in saying we had that bug a while back. You have to let these things run their course. You can't gallop it out of them. Nobody is invincible. “Danny has been very patient so it was good to get a winner for him." (Quotes by John O’Riordan)
