Pharoah now just one win away from history Trainer Bob Baffert refused to discuss American Pharoah's chances of becoming the first horse since Affirmed in 1978 to claim the American Triple Crown after the colt breezed to victory in the Preakness Stakes under Victor Espinoza. The high-class colt added to his gains in the Kentucky Derby on May 2 with a five-length demolition job in testing conditions at Pimlico racecourse. Next up for American Pharoah is a chance of making history by winning the third leg of the Triple Crown in the Belmont Stakes in three weeks' time. His trainer, however, dares not look too far ahead with a horse who has already given him the thrill of a lifetime. Baffert said: "He's just an incredible horse. "What he does is amazing. Great horses do great things, and I think he showed that. "I don't even want to think about the Triple Crown right now. "I want to enjoy this. I've been there and I don't want to think about it for another couple of weeks. "We'll just see how the horse comes back. I want to enjoy this, and I want to thank everyone for being so nice to us. "It has been a great ride so far."
