PIPE LEAVES NINE IN TROPHY

Martin Pipe is responsible for eight of the top nine horses remaining in the Tote Gold Trophy following today`s forfeit stage.

Pipe`s Auetaler now heads the handicap for the Newbury contest on February 10th following the defection of Geos and Hors La Loi III, with the weights going up by 7lb.

The Nicholashayne trainer has a total of nine entries among the 49 horses who have stood their ground, including ante-post favourite Mr Cool.

All the leading fancies for the #100,000 contest remain in the race including Pierse Hurdle winner Grinkov and third Rooster Booster.

Master Tern, Valiramix and Landing Light, who are all engaged in Saturday`s Tote Bookmakers Lanzarote Hurdle and would pick up a 4lb penalty should they win it, all retain their entries.

The latter has been well backed today for the Tote Gold Trophy with the sponsors and is now 7-1 from 10-1.

Tote bet: 6-1 Mr Cool, 7-1 Landing Light, 8-1 Grinkov, Master Tern, Rooster Booster, Valiramix, 12-1 Hulysse Royal, Seebald, 14-1 bar.
