Eddie Harty is weighing up his options with Kilfenora after his run in the Galmoy Hurdle at Gowran last Thursday.

The JP McManus-owned gelding finished a well beaten eighth in the Grade 2 contest behind Sams Profile.

Harty has revealed that the Yeats gelding met with a setback after his previous outing at Punchestown in October and fitness may have been an issue in testing conditions.

“Kilfenora has come out of the race at Gowran fine,” said Harty.

“We couldn’t get a run into him before that as he’d a cut after running at Punchestown that took about three weeks to heal.

“He’s a horse that needs his work and that ground was going to find him out but I was happy with the way he ran up to a point.

“He’s a good servant and we’ll see where we go with him — all plans are fluid with him.”

Kilfenora landed the Grade B Navan Handicap Hurdle 12 months ago, and the stable took the race again on Friday with impressive winner Damalisque.

The French import, another McManus-owned gelding, could bid to follow up at the Dublin Racing Festival next weekend.

He holds an entry in the William Fry Handicap Hurdle over three miles.
