Last point-to-point season’s Leading Handler Sam Curling continued his excellent run of form today, as his He Who Dares (12/1) overcame poor form-figures to win Wexford’s Clearwater Construction Handicap Hurdle (Div I), in a race of late-changes.

Carrying lifetime form-figures of ‘0000860-00’, the son of Harzand was held up in mid-field and while he improved into fourth-position jumping the final flight, rallied home to lead 75 yards out when scoring easily from Esticky End .

Curling, whose first Handlers’ Title came with a record 49 winners in May, had also scored with Sallap at Limerick yesterday and today successful jockey Philip Enright reported “I crept away, they went very quick so they came back to me and it worked out well. The horses came back on top of me a little bit but in fairness to him he was brave and kept going to the line. I just happened to be in the right position throughout the race.

“Hopefully he’ll pick away during the summer, he likes good ground. The good ground was a big help to him.”
