Polepatrick scores on second start for De Bromhead Third on his recent debut for trainer Henry De Bromhead, Polepatrick went two places better when registering a first career success in the Copper Coast Maiden Hurdle at Tramore. Sent off 13/8f in the familiar colours of Mrs P J Conway, the gelding led three out under jockey Darragh O'Keeffe. Strongly pressed between the final two flights, the six-year-old survived a mistake at the last to win by 13 lengths. O'Keeffe: "He had a nice run the last day in Clonmel. It was his first run for us and his first run over hurdles. We thought he'd step forward from it and I think he'll step forward from today as well. "He is a big horse and I'd say going around here will make a man of him as well. I missed the last with a circuit to go but winged the next. He went to the line well in Clonmel the last day, so I was going to press on nice and early today. He is a big striding horse. "I thought it was riding yielding, good to yielding in places today and I think he appreciated that. "He ran with a hood the last day and had no hood today, so he is starting to mature and hopefully he can progress from today as well. "He has been maturing away at home and has become a better ride, so we decided to leave it (the hood) off him today. It was a good performance." Additional reporting by Donal Murphy.
