Potter pleasing Elliott ahead of Fairyhouse Gordon Elliott reports Mighty Potter to be in fine form ahead of the WillowWarm Gold Cup at Fairyhouse on Sunday. The Martaline gelding was one of the Irish 'bankers' of the week heading to Cheltenham last month but had to settle for third in the Turners Novice Chase behind Stage Star. He had gone to post a 4/6 shot at the festival following a faultless campaign over fences that had included Grade 1 victories in the Drinmore Novice Chase and the Labrokes Novice Chase at the Dublin Racing festival. The six-year-old will bid to bounce back to winning ways on Sunday and Elliott told Dave Keena:- “He runs and he's in very good form. “He came back from Cheltenham a little bit sore and he went down to the vet Gerry Kelly. He looked at him and we think we have him right now so we're looking forward to running him. “He worked very well during the week and we're very happy with him.” Elliott intends on running “six or seven” in the Boylesports Irish Grand National on Monday with Chemical Energy and The Goffer among his leading chances. “The ground has probably gone against Ash Tree Meadow and we're probably looking at Chemical Energy and The Goffer, both of them seem in very good form. “Defi Bleu down the bottom, who was fifth in the Kim Muir, could run well with a light weight. We'll probably run six or seven in the race. “The Boylesports Irish Grand National is a great race, we've obviously been lucky enough to win it once (General Principle in 2018) and it would be great to win it again.”
