Eddie Lynam has not ruled out Slade Power running in the Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock next month before he starts his Australian adventure.

Europe's pre-eminent sprinter has won the Diamond Jubilee and the July Cup this season, and is scheduled to end his racing career in the VRC Sprint Classic at Flemington on November 8.

Lynam told Australia's Sky Sports Radio: "He's entered at Haydock and there's a chance he might go for that race, we haven't made any firm plans and he'll tell us but the main aim is the sprint at Flemington.

"He's in good form but has just been having an easy time (since Newmarket). His weight's good and his main race now is in November.

"Late September he'll do two-weeks quarantine in Newmarket before heading out to Australia for quarantine there. We've been advised by people in Australia to give him a trial and we hope to do that with him in Flemington a week before the Cup.

"It will be an advantage taking him there for the trial but having raced over Ascot's straight is a good trial as well."

Wayne Lordan has a great association with the horse and will keep the ride for his final races.

"He's a very good, lightweight jockey and high class," said Lynam. "He's been very lucky for me and knows Slade Power very, very well. He's excellent on the horse and knows him inside out and it would make sense to keep them together.

"This will be his last career run and the plan is for him to go to Darley in Australia to recuperate before returning to Ireland to stand at stud in the spring."
