Robbie Power is looking forward to getting back on board Supasundae in the PCI Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown tomorrow.

Jessica Harrington's charge won the race two years ago and has been an ever present in top class company over the past few seasons.

He was last seen chasing home Buveur D'air at Punchestown last May, having beaten the same rival at Aintree previously, and makes a belated seasonal debut this weekend.

“He's won three Grade 1s, two of them were over two miles including this race a couple of seasons ago,” said Power.

“He's been in fantastic form it just has taken him a bit longer to get fit than normal. He's always been a difficult horse to get fit but this year he's getting a bit older and a bit wiser.

“His work in the last few weeks has been really really good and I'm looking forward to getting his season started.

“I'd actually prefer it a bit softer for him, as he's got older he's able to handle softer ground and it makes it more of a stamina test.

“Two-and-a-half miles is his optimum trip.

“He's in good form. He's never won first time out in a season, he has to overcome that, but he's ready to rock and roll.

“The only entry Jessie has given him this year at Cheltenham is in the Champion Hurdle and that's where he's going to go. The division looks wide open this year.”
