Third on all-weather and handicap debut here two weeks ago, Power Of Prayer (3/1, from 6s this morning) appreciated the step-up to a mile and a half as she took the concluding Safer Gambling Week 2025 Handicap at Dundalk.

Settled in mid-division by Declan McDonogh, the daughter of Protectionist improved in the straight and hit the front well inside the final furlong to beat Mr Mills and longtime leader Syosset by half a length and the same.

Joseph O'Brien trains the three-year-old for her breeders Power Thoroughbreds PTY Limited.

"She is coming to herself," said McDonogh

"I had a bad draw and didn't get away as well as I would have liked, and there was a bit of a charge on for the first couple of furlongs. I accepted it, took the bullet and came back.

"In fairness, the pace was strong for what they were and I was happy enough to just creep into it then.

"She's a nice filly and she quickened up well. Straightforward, good attitude, tries hard. When I gave her a squeeze, she put her head on the floor which is always a help."
