Power out of danger

Elizabeth Power, a sister of Grand National-winning jockey Robbie Power, has been kept in hospital for observation after suffering a heavy fall during yesterday’s cross-country phase of the Badminton Horse Trials.

Power was knocked out when she fell from Kilpatrick River at the Sunken Lane but subsequently regained consciousness and was airlifted to Bristol’s Frenchay Hospital.

Speaking this afternoon, her brother Robbie said “Elizabeth is still in Frenchay Hospital but is out of danger. She had a small bleed to the right side of her brain and had bruising to the other side.”

“She is in a normal neurological ward at the hospital but will be under observation for 48 hours. The doctors are not worried about her but she is very sore.”

Power began well in Saturday’s Dressage, finishing the phase in 11th place.
