Power surges home to score for Coyle and Ryan Selective Power came with a well-timed surge to land the spoils in the Boyle Sports Handicap at Bellewstown, for trainer Thomas Coyle. The 11/2 joint-favourite had been knocking on the door in recent runs and gained a fifth career victory. James Ryan got a good tune from the seven-year-old as he chased down The Blue Panther in the closing stages for a two-and-three-quarter success. The winning trainer was leading up and Ryan said afterwards: "He loves that ground. "I just thought the last couple of times - talking to Jack Kearney that rode him the time before - I don't know if Gowran suits him a lot as horses sort of blindside him. “At least today, they are all in tight and he can sort of aim at something. "He did it well and he has been threatening to do that, so nice to get it done again. Great to get a winner for Tommy and the lads. "Probably a nice even gallop suits him as well."
