Profitable weekend for Whispers

Our Whispers column pinpointed a couple of nicely priced winners in recent days, with Devonelli (9/1) getting off the mark at Dundalk on Friday evening and Sensational Sema (9/2) also scoring at Killarney yesterday.

The Mick Halford-trained Devonelli previously caught the eye when coming home strongly a number of times in maidens on the polytrack.

He again finished well to get up close home in the seven furlong handicap, and could enjoy further success over a mile.

Point-to-point winner Sensational Sema showed some promise in two mile maiden hurdles, and the anticipated improvement when upped in distance materialised over 2m6f at Killarney.

Fortunate to get a run being the first reserve, Ruby Walsh gave the Tony Martin-trained gelding a patient ride to lead on the run-in.

Also at Dundalk on Friday, Rockview Diamond (second at 11/2) went close in the juvenile maiden and should gain compensation soon over a longer trip.
