Prosper makes Cesarewitch history Aaim To Prosper became the first horse to win the Betfred Cesarewitch twice when defying top-weight at Newmarket this afternoon. The 66-1 chance was successful two seasons ago when rated just 87 and Brian Meehan's eight year old was gaining his first victory since under the steadier of 9-10 from a rating of 107. It appeared as though the son of Val Royal would be swallowed up when leading fancies Countrywide Flame and Tominator moved into his slipstream travelling strongly but he kept pulling out more under a strong Kieren Fallon drive to record a famous victory. The gambled on Countrywide Flame finished second with Tominator third, Motivado fourth and I Have A Dream in fifth. A breathless Fallon said: "He was off the bridle all the way. He's tough as nails and he really wanted it. This bit of juice in the ground has helped. "I thought we were playing for second but when he picked up, he found a new lease of life." Meehan said: "Kieren has everyone's respect. He's a wonderful rider and rode him here a couple of weeks ago - he knew what he was getting on and what the horse needed. "I'm thrilled with the horse and he's made a bit of history. He'd been running in Pattern and stakes races but you couldn't be confident with top weight. "He's 20lb higher than when he last won it, but he did seem in really good shape and looking well at home. Good horses can come back and do it again and I'm delighted."
