The thoughts of many will turn to the Flat turf season once Cheltenham is completed next week.

As a trainer that started out in the National Hunt arena, David Wachman will no doubt be keeping a close eye on the Festival.

His business now, though, is all about racing on the level and he has one to look forward to in the shape of the three-year-old Quadrivium.

Owned and bred by the Niarchos family's Flaxman Stables Ireland Ltd, Quadrivium landed his sole start to date, a juvenile maiden at Dundalk in December, defeating a subsequent winner in Vector Force.

Alan Cooper, the owner's racing manager, said: "He's wintered well. It's early days yet though because it's been such a wet winter. So far so good and David is happy with him.

"He was impressive at Dundalk and seeing as he's wintered well let's hope he can build on that.

"There are some nice races towards the end of the month at Leopardstown, so we'll just wait and see when everything dries out a bit.

"He's hopefully a decent enough horse in the making. He's got a bit of legs to him and got a bit of presence to him."
