Cork winner Spirit Quartz attempts to build on that success in the Coral Charge at Sandown on Saturday.

The eight-year-old bounced back to claim the Listed Midsummer Sprint after running below form at Deauville which had come after he finished a close fourth to Profitable in the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket.

"It wasn't a great race, but it made up for his below-par effort in Deauville and he ran back to somewhere near the form he showed in the Palace House," said trainer Robert Cowell.

"If he can repeat that, he's a pretty decent horse. He won't mind the ground drying up a bit. He handles good to soft and good, so shouldn't mind it."

Cowell is also hoping that Iffranesia can boost her value as a broodmare in the race.

"We're chasing black type which is what anyone with a mare like this would do," said the Newmarket handler.

"She's a Listed winner so she carries a penalty everywhere else and this is the logical step.

"She won't mind the ground and she goes there in good form. She looks a picture. We're just hoping we can nab a place."

Paul Midgley is aiming to strike while the iron is hot with Monsieur Joe. The nine-year-old took the scalp of 2014 Prix de l'Abbaye winner Move In Time at Hamilton on Tuesday and remains in such good heart that Midgley could not resist turning him out again in this Group Three contest.

"He's in good form. He won well the other day and battled on bravely as he normally does," said Midgley.

"He'll like the ground, the draw (five) is good. There are no negatives, to be honest. I think he's got a big chance."

Midgley believes acquiring the services of Adam Kirby, who is riding on the crest of a wave, can only be another plus.

"Getting a jockey who's in good form does help as well," said the York trainer.
