Queally hoping Diamond can shine at Down Royal Declan Queally is hoping Rocky’s Diamond can bag another win over hurdles at Down Royal tomorrow. The Grade 2 winner bounced back to winning ways, over timber, at Kilbeggan earlier this month before finishing third over fences at Tramore a fortnight ago. Connections try headgear on the six-year-old for the first time now in the Denny Hurdle, over three miles. "I said I'd stick the cheekpieces on him, they are probably just to help him concentrate a little bit,” said Queally. “It is not that he is an ungenuine horse, he is probably just a little bit slow. "I was talking to Brian Hamilton (Clerk of the Course) and they are going to try and have the ground back to 'good'. “I know it is a very big track, but that is what the jump boys are expecting. Hopefully, they will have plenty of water on it. "He looks well weighted but, whether he is a 147 horse, I don't know. He still has to do that. "He has won five races for us, and we are very proud of him. He is a decent horse and it’s great to have him."
