Queally praises Frankel

Tom Queally is keeping everything crossed that Frankel can stay in one piece following his devastating display in the Royal Lodge Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.

Henry Cecil's Galileo colt has been the subject of plenty of hype ever since he made a winning debut at Newmarket, but it has also been justified so far as he has barely come off the bridle in three career starts.

His latest 10-length triumph in Group company forced bookmakers to significantly shorten his odds at the head of the betting for both the 2000 Guineas and the Derby.

Queally is justifiably excited, but acknowledges there is plenty of water to pass under the bridge between now and then.

"He's a hell of a horse. He's so imposing and he dominates everything he does, even in a piece of work," Queally told At The Races.

"He has so much going for him and has plenty of speed. They went slow and kind of got strung out when they started to go a gallop.

"So I moved to go a length closer and he kind of goes from second gear to fifth gear. He's just smooth, has plenty of ability and has a nice temperament.

"He can be a little bit keen but he's very exciting and let's just hope he stays sound.

"It's not just a case of running in Guineas. You've got to get through the winter and there are so many pitfalls, so let's hope we can keep him healthy."
