Gypsy Queen quickened away in impressive fashion to land the End Of School Year Maiden at Fairyhouse for trainer Willie McCreery.

Billy Lee held his mount up in the six-furlong contest before making ground on the outer in the straight on the 5/2 shot.

The Pinatubo filly swooped into the lead a furlong from home and soon asserted, going on to post a cosy four-and-three-quarter length success over Manhattan Chute

Gypsy Queen was making her second outing having been fifth in testing conditions over slightly further at Limerick last month on her debut.

McCreery said:- “She’s a homebred for Al Shira’aa so it’s important. She did it well and Billy said she loved a little bit of ease in the ground.

“She quickened up nicely but needs another bit of experience. We’ll try and find a winners-of-one or a fillies handicap.

“Seven (furlongs) may suit her even better as she was just on her head early on, but she’ll learn more again today.”
