Quick double for Carroll as Dolce Far Niente comes good Placed four times in 13 previous starts, Dolce Far Niente made the breakthrough in the first divide of the Racing Again Next Friday Handicap, completing a quick double for Gary Carroll. Down to a career low mark of 44 after finishing ninth on her return to action at Gowran last month, the Joe Murphy-trained four-year-old was sent off an 8/1 chance (touched 20s early) this evening. In front early on, the Zoffany bay was soon headed by Kartayaz and raced in second, but was ridden to regain the lead with over a furlong to go and kept on well in the closing stages to score by a length-and-a-half. Returned at 28/1, Felicity Smoak ran her best race to date and finished second under Julian Pietropaolo, while Jawhary (16/1) and the aforementioned Kartayaz (8/1) were third and fourth respectively. The Jim Bolger-trained Blondina was the 11/2 favourite and she finished eighth. "We've always liked her, and she's done what she does at home," Murphy disclosed. "She's been very disappointing but we held onto her and she's been covered by Sioux Nation, so we'll see how that goes. "She has a nice pedigree, and we'll probably give her another run." Carroll had won the previous contest aboard the Gavin Cromwell-trained Mo Chroi. STEWARDS REPORTS * J.A. Heffernan, rider of Don't Look Now, trained by Shane Crawley, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount didn't jump out. * W. Joyce, rider of Onemorestar, trained by J.Motherway, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount took a false step. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter the Raceday Stewards were satisfied no further action was warranted. * The Raceday Stewards interviewed W. Joyce, rider of Onemorestar, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that his mount had stumbled but was till running on. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that W. Joyce was in breach of R.10.3(b)(unnecessary use when out of contention) and having considered his clean record in this regard they suspended him for two racedays. * The Raceday Stewards advised Shane Crawley, trainer of Don't Look Now, that a repeat performance from his charge who refused to race, may render the animal liable to a suspension in the future.
