Quinlan suspended for 4 days for Bumper ride Amateur jockey Roger Quinlan received a four day suspension for his ride on runner-up Ballinderry Moth in the dramatic concluding bumper at Killarney yesterday. The Turf Club report reads: 'The Stewards enquired into an incident about 200 yards from the finish involving Palm Sur, ridden by Mr S. Clements, placed first and Ballinderry Moth, ridden by Mr R.P. Quinlan, placed second, where it appeared that Palm Sur met with interference when passing a hurdle wing which joined the running rail . Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was caused by Mr R.P. Quinlan riding carelessly and consequently suspended him for 4 racedays having taken his good previous record into consideration. The Stewards enquired into an incident about one furlong from the finish involving Little Mitch, ridden by Mr P.A. King and Rosshaven Lady, ridden by Miss S. O'Brien, where it appeared that Rosshaven Lady veered inwards when racing on a non railed part of the course and collided with a spur before falling and bringing down Little Mitch. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards considered the incident to be accidental in nature and did not apportion any blame in the circumstances. A.P. O'Brien, trainer of Rosshaven Lady, attended this enquiry."
