Racecourse gallop for Hong Kong raider

Eddie Lynam sent Sole Power up for a spin round Dundalk tonight ahead of his raid to Sha Tin.

Last year's Nunthorpe winner leaves for Hong Kong next Wednesday to take part in the lucrative Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Sprint on December 11th worth 1.3 million euro.

"He went three to four furlongs under David Mason. We are very happy with him. David had a job pulling him up and thats with 11 stone on his back. The race in Hong Kong will be run at a good pace, it should be one minute seven seconds pace [for six furlongs]," Eddie Lynam said.

"Keagan Latham will ride him. He gets on well with him. We get help with expenses for transporting the horse out. There are 14 runners in the race."

Since his victory in the Group 1 Nunthorpe at York in August 2010 Sole Power has run eight times this year with his one win coming in the Group 2 Temple Stakes at Haydock in May.

Last time out he came third in the Group 1 Prix de l'Abbaye at Longchamp on October 2nd, beaten two short heads behind Tangerine Trees.
