Raging Bull fights his way back to victory The Aidan O'Brien-trained Raging Bull justified favouritism under Ryan Moore by battling gamely from over two furlongs out to win the Army Equitation Centenary Irish EBF Maiden at the Curragh. Sent off the 1/2 favorite, the Coolmore-owned colt was sent forward early and was handy throughout on the stand side. The son of Wootton Bassett was sent to the front over two furlongs out and was soon joined by the newcomer Overhead Drive (14/1). The pair battled from over a furlong out, and although the eventual winner was definitely headed, he battled back tenaciously on testing conditions to win by a head. They were six lengths clear of the third, Golden Idol (8/1). The runner-up is sure to improve from this, as he was slowly away and was green throughout the race. He may prove worth watching over the next few weeks and into next year. O’Brien commented how, "He's a fast ground horse. Ryan said he was very worried going to the start on him. He has a big engine, he's tough and very genuine. He's going to be lovely. Himself and the second pulled a long ways clear. He has the makings of a very smart horse. “Ryan said he'd rather have taken his time on him instead of being handy all the way. It wasn't the way to ride him and he hated the ground.
