Rail Steams In For Fabre

Rail Link completed the step up to Group One company as he ran out a comfortable winner of Friday's Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp.

Owned by the race sponsor Khalid Abdullah, the Andre Fabre-trained colt was produced with a well-timed challenge by Christophe Soumillon to run out a two-length winner over British raider Red Rocks.

Fellow British runner Art Deco was out of the frame as was the Aidan O'Brien-trained pair of Mountain and Puerto Rico.

Rail Link, who is a half-brother to Len Lungo's useful dual purpose performer Silvertown, was having just his fifth run after making his racecourse debut in April.

Soumillon said: 'The horse is still very green and took his time to come on earlier in the season.

'We thought he would win a good race and then when I took him to the front, I thought he would win easily but he started to look around him.

'He's a progressive horse and he's a very good horse and can only improve from this.'

Rail Link was the fourth winner on the card for Abdullah after Enforce, Village Fete and the Kieren Fallon-ridden Bellamy Cay had all obliged earlier.
