Rainbows Shines Brightest In Galway Feature

More Rainbows was a shock 33-1 winner of the Guinness Galway Hurdle at the Irish festival today.
In an incident-packed race which saw the 2-1 favourite Cloone River crash outon the final circuit when travelling strongly, Noel Meade took the first prize of ?115,200 with his unfancied five-year-old.

Niall `Slippers´ Madden took More Rainbows into the lead leaving the back straight and the pair ran on to beat Tiger Cry (16-1) by a length. Callow Lake (14-1) and Calorando (12-1) filled the third and fourth places for Jessica Harrington and Tony Mullins.

Meade had a total of four runners in the race with his most fancied, Definate Spectacle, taking a tumble in the closing stages, hampering several runners, including top-weight Accordion Etoile.
