Raise off the mark for O'Sullivan Danny Gilligan gave Raise You Up a well-judged front-running ride to claim the Red Mills Auction Maiden Hurdle at Limerick for trainer Ross O’Sullivan. The Wings Of Eagles gelding was sent off 15/8 favourite in the two-mile-three heat after a promising run to finish second on his hurdling debut at Naas a fortnight ago. He got under the second-last a bit but found plenty for Gilligan from the final flight to post a four-and-a-quarter length success over Burning Ability. “He had a lovely run in Naas and that’s why he was favourite,” said O’Sullivan. “We said if he was as well as Naas he should win, as the betting suggested. “My only worry was coming back after 14 days, I was a little bit nervous about that. “He’s a lovely horse, we bought him off Jamie Codd for Richard Murphy from England. Jamie strongly recommended him to us. “He wasn’t an expensive horse but Jamie said he did everything right for him last year. “He’s progressive and there is plenty more to come from him. He’s only learning, he only had one run in a point-to-point. “It was hard there today having to do your own donkey work, he’d probably be better with a lead, but he couldn’t do any more than he did. It’s nice to have him. “He’ll be a lovely chaser, I’d say three miles is going to be his trip. He’s a strong horse with a good mind and, touch wood, we’ll have a right bit of fun with him.”
