Raise Your Heart on target for Greatwood

Listed Flat winner Raise Your Heart is on target for the Greatwood Hurdle at Cheltenham on November 15th.

Trainer Joanna Morgan has had to come up with a novel way of training the six-year-old, who dislikes cold weather.

After the Greatwood, he is due to ship out to Dubai for a campaign at the Carnival before returning to Britain for an ambitious crack at the Champion Hurdle.

"He is good on the Flat and he is good over hurdles, he is just a good horse," said Morgan.

"His last run was his best on the Flat. He has always been very giddy and keen but for some reason the penny has suddenly dropped.

"He is impossible to train in the winter, he is a disaster when the weather turns. I train him out of the field because that is where he is happiest.

"He is usually out there about 23 hours a day and with the inclement weather we had here last winter, I had to give up on him last year.

"I brought him back for the Festival at Cheltenham but he wasn't quite right.

"I have a plan this year to maybe take him to Dubai on the Flat and then come back for Cheltenham in March.

"I think he will thrive in the warmth out there so I want to run him in the Greatwood and then head out to the sun for a few runs before bringing him back for the Festival.

"I am pleased with the weight he has, 10st 7lb is ideal. I just hope I can keep him right."

Champion Hurdle runner-up Celestial Halo is currently at the head of the weights followed by Blue Bajan, Ashkazar, Sentry Duty and American Trilogy.

Whiteoak, Starluck, Medermit and Red Moloney are others who catch the eye.
