Raphael last as Erupt shines in Paris Ballydoyle raider Archangel Raphael trailed in last of the six runners as Erupt maintained his unbeaten record in the Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp. The Dubawi colt, trained by Francis Graffard, was brought with a well-timed run by Stephane Pasquier in the straight to power past Aidan O'Brien's pace-setting Archangel Raphael and Storm The Stars, trained by William Haggas. Erupt (8-1), owned by the Niarchos family, quickly asserted his authority and won by a comfortable two lengths from the Andre Fabre-trained 7-4 favourite Ampere, who could not get a run at a crucial stage of the race. Dual Derby-placed Storm The Stars was not disgraced as he clung on for third, having travelled nicely for Pat Cosgrave, with David Simcock's Royal Ascot winner Balios, who was held up in the rear, keeping on to be a close fifth, just behind Silverwave. Betfred and Paddy Power introduced Erupt at 16-1 for the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, with RaceBets and Coral going 14-1.
