Real Encounter (5/6f) landed Dundalk’s opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden today, scoring for trainer Jessica Harrington, jockey Shane Foley and owners Forz Europe Limited.

The daughter of Lucky Vega raced prominently and while a little outpaced at halfway, finished well to eventually score by 2.5 lengths from Aughlish .

Jockey Foley said: "I was a little bit worried about the trip and I was probably going as hard as I was able for most of the race, but I knew she would see it out well. Five (furlongs) wasn't ideal, but the race presented itself and she likes the surface and the track.

"She was just ready to have a start here the last day, and I landed down to win but she blew up. We knew she would improve plenty. It is nice to get a maiden with her and hopefully she can step forward. "
