Recharge to miss Meld Stakes

Recharge will not line up in the Jockey Club of Turkey Meld Stakes at Leopardstown on Thursday.

Trainer Kevin Prendergast has decided to give the four-year-old more time to recover following a lacklustre performance at the Curragh last month, after which he scoped dirty.

His form before that had been most consistent this season and included a Listed success and second place behind Fame And Glory in the Group One Tattersalls Gold Cup.

"He's a non-runner. He's coming on all right, but we're just giving him more time after the setback he had," said Prendergast.

The County Kildare handler also reported Termagant to be back cantering after suffering from a muscle problem.

"She's coming back now. She had a muscle problem, so we had to give her time off but she's back cantering again," he added.

The Powerscourt filly won the Group One Moyglare Stakes last autumn but lost her unbeaten record when ninth to Bethrah in the Irish 1000 Guineas on her only start so far this season.
