Red Mills day this Saturday at Gowran Park Gowran Park plays host to one of its feature meetings of the year on Saturday with the Red Mills Chase and the Red Mills Trial Hurdle both boasting prize-money of €60,000. The Grade 2 Red Mills Chase was won last year by Monalee and his trainer Henry de Bromhead could now be represented by Chris’s Dream. The Robcour-owned gelding won the Troytown Handicap Chase on his seasonal reappearance at Navan but connections decided to miss an engagement in the Paddy Power Irish Gold Cup at Leopardstown earlier this month due to the ground. Willie Mullins has three possibles in Real Steel, Bellshill and Voix De Reve, while Gordon Elliott has entered Hardline, Death Duty and Shattered Love. Darasso holds an entry in both Graded races and could bid to land the Grade 3 Red Mills Trial Hurdle for the second successive year. The Joseph O’Brien-trained gelding would have to give weight all-round with Cilaos Emery and Carlo Biraghi also among the eight entries. A fashion show and best dressed competition as well as music after racing are just some of the other attractions at Gowran Park on Saturday. The gates will open at 11am and the Red Mills Style Marquee will be open from 11.30am where there is a pop-up store, and fashion shows throughout the day with stylist Marietta Doran. The best dressed competition will be judged by Emily O’Donnell and Edward Hayden, with the winning lady and gent each receiving a €500 voucher for the RED MILLS Store and a two night stay in a Talbot Collection Hotel. Complimentary buses depart from close to the gates of Kilkenny Castle at 12 noon. They return at 5pm and 7pm. The later bus is to accommodate After Dark fans who take to the stage in the Heineken Live marquee at 4.45pm and will play for two hours. There is also live music in the Thyestes Bar which is the ground floor bar from just before the last race. The best priced general admission tickets are available for €12 on GowranPark.ie, admission on the gate will be €15. Tickets bought online can be scanned on a phone or printed to ensure prompt access while gold and silver packages can also be purchased on Gowran Park’s website. The first race on Saturday is off at 1.10pm.
