Red runs rivals ragged Aidan O'Brien's The Great War ran well for a long way before ultimately being one of many to have no answer to the jet-propelled thrust of Texas Red in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile at Santa Anita. Ryan Moore was positive from the off on The Great War and for a fleeting moment it appeared he might have enough left to take what became a big gap on the rail. Although he tried hard, the son of War Front was left toiling in fourth as Texas Red gave the impression of just joining in from the back of the pack in a visually stunning performance, after what was quite a rough race at points. Carpe Diem did best of the rest, with Upstart third. The winner was ridden by Kent Desormeaux for his brother Keith, with the former not long back in the saddle after breaking ribs and puncturing a lung in September. Desormeaux said: "What ribs!" Keith Desormeaux said: "It feels great to be the Derby favourite! "We were 100 per cent absolutely confident, this horse had been training like clockwork - I couldn't say we were going to win, but he'd been training great. "He's going to get stronger and stronger, he's not a precocious horse."
