Sexton had better luck in the EY Beginners Chase when he led all the way on Paul Nolan's Behemoth (7-2), who skipped clear when the odds-on Vaxalco was running into trouble behind. He never looked like being caught and won by four and a quarter lengths.

Davy Condon looked to be travelling well two out in the Flynn Hotel Group Handicap Hurdle on the Gordon Elliott-trained Swantykay and once the 4-1 shot saw a bit of daylight he pressed on to score by two lengths.

The Waterford & Tramore Racecourse Handicap Chase was a first victory under Rules for the James Dullea-trained Red Or White (5-1), who was sent on going to two out by Davy Russell and asserted to beat favourite All Fired Up by four lengths.
