Rip not certain for Ascot Aidan O'Brien has warned Rip Van Winkle is far from certain to make the line-up for the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot on September 26th. The three-year-old overcame a late foot injury to win the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood last month but returned sore from the race. "He is being trained for the QEII but it's touch and go at the moment. He's still not 100 per cent right. We're coming along slowly and while we're not guaranteed to get there, we are trying to," the trainer told At The Races. The victory at Goodwood was a first of the season for the son of Galileo, who finished fourth in both the 2000 Guineas and Derby and second to Sea The Stars in the Eclipse. "If he hadn't a few issues with his feet, he'd have been a complete superstar this year but we think he's a very good horse," O'Brien added.
