Rivals Endure Wolves Stalemate Jamie Spencer and Seb Sanders both drew a blank at Wolverhampton on Monday in their ding-dong battle for the jockeys' championship.Spencer looked to hold numerous good chances on paper and had a ride in every race. But the nearest he could manage was two second-placed finishes aboard Wild Bill Tracey in the opening five-furlong handicap and One Night In Paris in the extended one-mile handicap.Sanders, who had four rides, was also hit with a three-day suspension for excessive use of the whip aboard third-placed My Mate Pete in the opener. He will miss November 16, 17 and 19 but the destination of the title will have already been decided by then.Spencer, who still leads Sanders by three winners, will be out of action on Tuesday and Wednesday due to a suspension. As a result, Coral cut Sanders to 11-10 from 6-4.Spencer can now be backed at 4-6 (from 1-2) with the same firm.'Although neither rider managed a winner at Wolverhampton, we reckon Jamie Spencer will be more disappointed as he failed to extend his lead ahead of his two-day ban,' said Coral's David Stevens.'If Sanders enjoys a fruitful two days, Spencer could well be second favourite when he returns to action on Thursday.'(C) PA Sport
