Review roscommon 8th Jun

< Decoy Daddy showed plenty of guts as he battled back on the run-in to claim the Abbey Hotel Roscommon Hurdle.

Robbie Power had taken it up early on the 5-2 chance but he looked in trouble turning for home as favourite The God Of Love was primed to challenge.

The market leader took it up at the last but Decoy Daddy gave his all up the rail to edge back in front by two lengths at the line.

"It's great to win one with him. He's rated a bit high and is probably a genuine 119/120 horse. If he goes above that again we might have another go chasing," said trainer Tony Mullins.< Fingers (11-2) completed his hat-trick under Luke McNiff in the Connolly's Red Mills Horse Cubes Handicap Hurdle.

A winner over hurdles at Limerick and on the level at Tramore last month, Kevin O'Brien's charge chased down Lucky Wish to record a length-and-a-half success.

"He stayed on well and the one thing he does is stay but he also seems to have a bit of pace," said O'Brien.

"We'll mix it with him and probably go over fences, depending on what the handicapper does."

The Pyramid Bookmakers Novice Chase lost much of its interest with the withdrawal of both Sizing Europe and Cuan Na Grai, but their absences left the way clear for the Paul Flynn-trained Archie Boy (8-11 favourite) to win by 19 lengths.

"The lads are mad to go to Galway but I don't think that would suit him and I'm looking more at Listowel and Killarney, while there might also be something in England for him," said Flynn.< Sinntaran (7-2), a half-brother to Derby winner Sinndar, produced a fine front-running performance to take the opening [email protected] Maiden Hurdle.

Trainer Michael Halford said: "His first run over hurdles was good. He's just hard to settle."
