Royal Wedding kicks bookies in the crown jewels as punters scoop a fortune

ROYAL RACING PUNTERS were celebrating a Bank Holiday bonanza when racehorse Royal Wedding won the 5.30 from Fontwell at odds of 4/1, say Ladbrokes.

Jockey Liam Treadwell's mount followed the fairytale script and jumped to victory to leave the bookies battered on a day of high emotion.

David Williams of Ladbrokes said: "Madame Fate has given us one hell of a kick in the crown jewels. Royal Wedding backers are over the moon.

"The horse began to drift in the betting market but the Royal Gods had other ideas. Loyal Royalists who kept the faith have scooped a small fortune."
