Davy Russell is hoping to return to the saddle this weekend after being stood down from his rides at Thurles on Thursday.

Russell was taken to hospital for precautionary x-rays on a foot following a fall from Ronava at the third fence in the Littleton Handicap Chase.

He is currently leading Ruby Walsh in the Irish jumps jockeys' title race with 65 winners.

Speaking to www.starsportsbet.co.uk Russell said: " I thought I'd drop you all a quick line from hospital.

"I have had x-rays on my ankle after the fall at Thurles and they have come back clear.

"I remain confident of being given the all-clear to resume riding this weekend.

"Thanks for all the messages which are much appreciated."
