Ryan gets his Roscommon brace on Sea Lantern James Ryan grabbed a brace of winners in Roscommon when his work on board Sea Lantern was rewarded in the Racing Here Again On September 29th Maiden. The pair looked to have plenty on their plate in fifth outside the final furlong, but took closer order in fourth passing that marker. Ryan conjured a strong finish from the 10/1 shot who came between horses to lead in the final 100 yards and bounded away by a length and three-parts. Simurgh (8/1) came in second under Chris Hayes with Juniper Sling (5/2) and Colin Keane back in third. Jack Davison said: “He’s an unassuming type, he only does so much at work and it seems to be the same in his races. “James said he’s only always doing enough and he pricked his ears when he got to the front. “You’d imagine he’ll keep on improving. He’s not too hard on himself and you never know where these horses end up. “Maybe a stiff mile-and-a-half, or a mile-and-a-six in time could be his goal. “I trained the full-sister, Fresnel. She was one of my first winners and the McStays have been very good to me, very supportive. I’m delighted for the connections. “We’ll take it one step at a time with him. We’ll see what the handicapper does. “You’d be hoping that he keeps going up the grades and keeps improving. You’d hope he’d be a black-type horse in time but we’ll enjoy today.” Ryan also won on Selective Power (11/2) for Trainer Thomas Coyle. Additional reporting by Gary Carson
