Santo Sospir knows where the winning post is Santo Sospir improved his record to three from four after a ready victory in the Munster Hurdle over an extended two miles in Clonmel. The five-year-old Motivator gelding ploughed through the testing ground in asserting over Baby Kate after two out. He popped the last for Jack Kennedy and strode right away by nine lengths to reward those who backed the favourite at 4/5. Runner-up Baby Kate was a 6/1 chance. Baby Kate's stablemate, Charlus, who was the main market rival to Santo Sospir, fell two out when not out of contention. Santo Sospir was last seen winning a maiden over over an extended two-miles-three-furlongs in Punchestown and also took the honours on debut in a bumper at that track in February. Gordon Elliott said: "He is going the right way, but is still a baby and is learning. "Jack said the further he went, the better he got. In fairness, he was gutsy and galloped the whole way to the line. He probably wants 2m4f but, with the conditions, we decided to come here. "He is down the pecking order for Cheltenham, but I'm sure there are races to be won with him and we might look for a rated novice next." Paddy Power trimmed Santo Sospir from 40/1 to 33/1 for the Albert Bartlett. Additional reporting by Tom Weekes
