Saoire All Set For Oaks

Frances Crowley has confirmed Saoire firmly on course for a Classic double in the Darley Irish Oaks at the Curragh on Sunday.

A short-head winner of the Irish 1000 Guineas earlier this season, the daughter of Pivotal was hampered at a crucial stage of the Pretty Polly Stakes last month when finishing eighth behind Alexander Goldrun.

However, she was only beaten three lengths and has reportedly thrived since.

Crowley said: 'This weekend will be her first crack at a mile and half, but we are not worried about the trip and we have always thought of her as an Oaks filly.

'She is very well, but really got no race in the Pretty Polly. She came home and ate up every scrap of grub that night and has been fine ever since.'
