Saratoga Special scores maiden success Listed-placed juvenile Saratoga Special (10/11f) scored on her seasonal return to action at Cork today, landing the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden for trainer Jessica Harrington and jockey Shane Foley. The daughter of Starspangledbanner, a runner-up at Listed level last August, today raced keenly but finished well to Afterwards Harrington stated “she deserved that and has got stronger this year. “We are happy with her although Shane said she was very keen in the early stages. He’d have forgiven her being beaten as she was so keen but was fresh and well. “If there is a good pace she could stay six furlongs and we’ll look forward to a nice year. She’ll come back here for the Polonia Stakes next month.”
